Live-animal shares

Punta Wagyu Ranch sells a share of the live animal of a live fullblood Japanese Wagyu steer. You are not purchasing retail cuts or packaged beef from us. Ownership of your fractional interest transfers before slaughter, documented by bill of sale.

Shares are for household use, not resale. Custom-exempt beef from your share cannot be resold, served in restaurants, or sold at farmers markets.

Pricing

Beef cost is calculated per lb hanging weight for your share, based on actual hanging weight reported by the processor. The rate depends on share size — see pricing on the home page for current introductory rates. Processing is included on the same invoice at cost — we collect it and remit it to the processor. All shares of one carcass are cut to the Ranch Standard Cut.

After harvest, we invoice one balance for beef (rate × actual hanging weight for your share) plus processing at cost. Pay by cash, certified check, or money order before pickup at the ranch by appointment. No card, Zelle, or Venmo on the balance.

Deposits

Deposits by share size: Eighth share $150; Quarter share $250; Half share $500; and Whole share $1,000.

For any other amount, the deposit is $150 minimum or $125 per eighth-unit reserved, whichever is greater — for example, a Seven eighths share is $875 (Eighth $150; Quarter $250; Three eighths $375; Half $500; Five eighths $625; Three quarters $750; Seven eighths $875; and Whole $1,000).

Your deposit applies to the final balance. It becomes non-refundable once the harvest date for your animal is scheduled. If the ranch cancels, you are refunded in full. If harvest has not happened within two months of your deposit, you are refunded in full — that guarantee overrides forfeiture.

Cancellation & refunds

  • Your deposit applies to the final beef balance owed for your share of the live animal.
  • Once a harvest date is scheduled for your animal, the deposit becomes non-refundable.
  • If Punta Wagyu Ranch cancels the sale, you receive a full refund.
  • If harvest has not occurred within 60 days of your deposit payment, you receive a full refund — this guarantee overrides forfeiture.

Buyer responsibilities

  • Pay the final balance (beef plus processing) by cash, certified check, or money order after hanging weight is reported, before the beef is released
  • Pick up packaged beef at the ranch by appointment after aging (typically within a few days of when we collect from the processor)
  • Maintain adequate freezer space for your share
